Pratt Anywhere Lab Available at Open Works

New Technology Lab funded by American Rescue Plan

February 3, 2025

BALTIMORE— The Enoch Pratt Free Library in partnership with Open Works has opened a new technology lab inside the East Baltimore maker space. This is the first location for the new Pratt Anywhere program funded with American Rescue Plan funding through the Mayor’s Office of Recovery Programs.

Pratt Anywhere gives the library an opportunity to expand our resources and services beyond the walls of our 22 locations,” says Pratt Library President & CEO Chad Helton. “Open Works is the first site where we’re able to provide free work stations with the latest technology that anyone can come in and use. We want to give people the tools they need to reach their dreams and Pratt Anywhere is another way the library is opening the doors of access to our community.”

The new Pratt Anywhere at Open Works lab is outfitted with 17 state-of-the-art work stations supported with newly installed high-speed networking infrastructure to ensure seamless internet access. Each work station is equipped with a suite of industry-leading software tools to help foster learning, creativity, and innovation. Those tools cater to a wide range of needs including graphic design, 3D modeling, video editing, and broadcasting. The Pratt Library will also provide regular technology and digital literacy classes within the space.

The lab is free to use for anyone in the community during the hours Open Works is open. "Open Works is thrilled to partner with the Enoch Pratt Free Library to make our computer lab free to the community,” says Open Works Executive Director Will Holman. “Access to resources is a cornerstone to building a more equitable Baltimore where everyone has the opportunity to thrive."

Pratt Anywhere will expand later in 2025 with a new technology lab inside Rita Church Community Center in Northeast Baltimore.
