Baltimore City Chromebook Distribution

The Chromebook distribution is not accepting new appointments at this time. Walk-in appointments are not available. Please check back for updated information.

In partnership with Baltimore City Information & Technology and the Maryland Office of Statewide Broadband, the Pratt Library is distributing 50,000 HP Chromebooks to eligible Baltimore City households. Through the Maryland Connected Devices Program (MD-CDP), efforts will continue to decrease the digital divide and increase digital literacy in the Baltimore City community.

For Chromebook tech support, please contact Marylanders Online at (301) 405-9810. Help is provided in English and Spanish, Monday to Friday 10 am to 8 pm, and Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm.

Eligibility

Only Baltimore City residents 18 years or older may participate. One device is allowed per household.
 

In order to pick up your Chromebook, you must provide:

  • Photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, work or government ID, passport, etc.)

  • Proof of Baltimore City residence

    • Government-issued ID with current address
    • Change of address card
    • Lease
    • Utility bill
    • Mail with name and address (postmarked within 60 days, junk mail not accepted)
    • Recent bank statement
    • Letter of stay (e.g. shelter) - organization must provide on letterhead
  • Proof of one (1) of the following qualifications listed below

Please note if you received a Chromebook through a partner (Baltimore City Recs & Parks, ECD Housing, GEDCO, Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC), Maryland Family Network, Project Waves, or Thread), you would are not eligible to receive another Chromebook.

Qualifications

  • Households with an income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines:

    • $30,120 for a household of 1

    • $40,880 for a household of 2

    • $51,640 for a household of 3

    • $62,400 for a household of 4

    • Or $10,760 more for each additional household member

  • Households enrolled in the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)

  • Households that participate in government assistance programs such as:
    • Child receives free or reduced-price school lunch
    • Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
    • Medicaid
    • Pell Grant (current award year)
    • SNAP, formerly Food Stamps
    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
    • Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit
    • WIC

Examples of proof include (but are not limited to):

  • Proof of current participation in government assistance program (2023 or later):
    • DHS letter confirming assistance program listed above
    • Housing assistance letter
    • Medicaid card or benefit letter
    • P-EBT card, progress report/report card, or other proof of child's enrollment in a school that provides free or reduced-price lunch
    • Pell Grant award letter or student aid balance showing Pell Grant
    • SNAP card or benefit letter
    • SSI benefit letter
    • Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit letter
    • WIC card or benefit letter
  • Internet bill showing the ACP discount (although ACP funding has ended, we will accept proof of participation in the program from 2023-2024)
  • W-2 from 2024, first page of your completed 2024 tax return, or most recent pay stubs listing pay rate

If you are not eligible or do not meet the qualifications for this distribution, the Pratt still has you covered. Chromebooks may be borrowed from any location by customers 13 or older with a Pratt Library card.
